Once Human gets a huge patch — here’s what we got

Apart from the servers going down (understandably), we got a new game mode and some bug fixes that will hopefully result in a more finished game. But before we get too excited, let’s pull apart the 18 July patch and see what we got.

The first thing we got is a new game mode, where a Rosetta Transport Truck drives across the map. It’s filled with Sproutlets, which you can convert into precious in-game currency. It’s either the wish machine currency or simple stardust, I’m not quite sure which yet – we’ll see.

This is a PVP event, but you’ll have no loss of durability or gear drops, so you can go ham here and have some fun with it.

There are also new cosmetics, including two new outfits, a furniture set, and two new weapon skins.

The bug fixes are as displayed on Once Human’s Steam page, and there are plenty! I’ll answer a few more of your questions afterwards.

Right, let’s look at some questions.

Why are the Once Human Servers down?

The servers are down in order to complete maintenance and provide us with all of the new content and fixes mentioned above.

What’s up the Once Human Privacy Policy?

I heard from a developer (unrelated to Starry Studios) that China and Korea have serious issues with gaming addiction, and so much of the information gathered is to help combat these issues. This does not apply to Western countries, where we arguably have just as much issues with gaming addiction! But that’s just my opinion.

Most games also require this much info, and I’m of the opinion that those mistrustful of China have likely read too much into their privacy policy. But you can read it for yourself, compare it to other games, and make your own decision.

I’m not worried, if that counts for anything.

When will the Once Human Servers be back online?

The servers will be back at 8am UTC, unless there are any unexpected issues during maintenance, in which case the team will be working at top speed to restore services – we can be sure of that.

[Update at 8:08 UTC]: I don’t want to say that I called it, but I called it. With new games, we can expect this sort of thing. We saw it with The First Descendant, and we’re seeing it now. Take some time and explore our Once Human guides while we all wait patiently for the servers to come back online.

Dear Metas,

Due to the extensive content of this maintenance, the development team needs more time to perform maintenance in order to deliver a better gaming experience.

We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience caused. We will complete the maintenance and reopen the server… https://t.co/9uGT3RuJAA

The way I see it, bonus. Wonder what we’ll get in compensation? 😂

Good luck to the team at Starry!

That’s all for the update. Excited to see what’s next from Starry Studios.
