Jazz Chisholm Jr. has played his first game as a member of the New York Yankees.
After being traded from the Miami Marlins in exchange for prospects, the star made his debut for the Yankees against the Boston Red Sox on Sunday, helping lead New York to an 8-2 win.
Following the game, he admitted that being on the Yankees was a dream come true.
“I think it’s every kid’s dream to play for the New York Yankees,” he said.

Chisholm managed to get a hit in his debut, also stealing a base and coming around to score a run.
“It was great. The guys were super hype,” Chisholm said. “They showed me so much love.”
Chisholm played in the outfield in his first game with the Yankees, but there has been talk of moving him to the infield. Should New York make the move, Chisholm said he’d be fine with the adjustment.
“I played infield before. Like I did in Miami, I’m going anywhere to go win,” Chisholm said. “I’ll play any position to go win a championship.”
While he’s played center field for most of the last two seasons, he was an All-Star while playing second base in 2022. That season, he had 14 homers, 45 RBI and a .254 batting average.
He’s on pace to collect career highs in both home runs and RBI, and perhaps the spark of joining a new team will lead to a surge at the end of the year.
Chisholm joins the Yankees amid a mid-season skid that has seen New York struggle over the past month. The addition has already yielded a win, and the Yankees hope there are many more to come.
