The San Francisco 49ers have reportedly negotiated the frameworks for trades that would send wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk to either the Cleveland Browns or New England Patriots, per NBC Sports’ Matt Maiocco.

Now that the 49ers have discussed the framework with the Browns and Patriots, Aiyuk will have the chance to accept the contract terms from either team.

According to Maiocco, the 49ers also gave Aiyuk’s camp permission to have contract negotiations with the Washington Commanders and Pittsburgh Steelers, though the Commanders removed themselves from talks while the Steelers did not meet San Francisco’s trade demands.

Cleveland and New England have given the 49ers a trade proposal they agreed on and have presented Aiyuk’s camp with its best offer.

Maiocco also noted that the Browns and Patriots’ offers for Aiyuk would likely involve a veteran receiver along with a package of draft picks. Cleveland.com’s Mary Kay Cabot mentioned Browns’ Amari Cooper as a name that could be involved in a trade for Aiyuk.

Aiyuk officially requested a trade from the 49ers in July after the two sides struggled to come to an agreeable contract extension for the fifth-year wide receiver. If he were to play the 2024 season with San Francisco, he would earn $14.124 million while playing on the final year of his rookie contract.

The 2020 first-round draft pick is coming off a season that saw him record a career-high 1,342 receiving yards and seven touchdowns while helping lead the Niners to a Super Bowl appearance.

Should Aiyuk be on the move to either New England or Cleveland, either team will be getting a player who is on his way to being one of the best receivers in the league.
