The Dallas Cowboys have placed wide receiver CeeDee Lamb on the reserve/did not report list as the superstar wideout sits out training camp in search of a new long-term contract.

Ian Rapoport of NFL Network relayed the news.

The #Cowboys placed WR CeeDee Lamb placed on the Reserve/Did Not Report list and placed DE Sam Williams on IR — procedural moves to create roster space to deal with injuries.

Rapoport previously reported on Sunday, July 28 that it “does sound like they are getting closer” regarding the Cowboys and Lamb, who is entering the final season of a rookie deal.

Lamb, 25, just enjoyed a fantastic 2023 season that ended with an NFL-high 135 catches, 1,749 yards and 12 touchdowns. He’s a three-time Pro Bowler who just earned first-team All-Pro honors for his efforts.

Obviously, it would behoove the Cowboys to get Lamb in training camp and have him signed before the season. He’s by far the team’s most productive and efficient offensive weapon and one of the best wide receivers in football.

The market has been set for elite wideouts. Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Justin Jefferson signed a four-year, $140 million contract ($110 million guaranteed). The Detroit Lions’ Amon-Ra St. Brown is on a four-year, $120 million deal ($77 million guaranteed). And Tyreek Hill of the Miami Dolphins is now on a restructured three-year, $90 million contract ($65 million guaranteed).

Needless to say, Lamb is deserving of a contract well into a nine figures, perhaps something along the lines of what Jefferson received in terms of total value and guaranteed money.

But right now, the Cowboys and Lamb remain at an impasse with the regular season, which begins on Sept. 8 against the Cleveland Browns, just one month away.
