Concord, NC SMX Playoff 1SuperMotocross World Championship
Yamaha has provided an update on Nate Thrasher after his DNFS-DNS at the first round of the SMX Playoffs for the SuperMotocross World Championship. Thrasher made his return to racing for the first time since the Hangtown Motocross Classic back in June when he raced with a broken collarbone, confirming last week he would be in for the SMX Playoffs. After missing a majority of the AMA Pro Motocross Championship, Thrasher qualified in the 20th and final position guaranteed a spot in the motos between combined AMA Supercross and Motocross points. Thrasher had a big get off in the sand section in qualifying, which Yamaha stated left him with a hematoma on his leg. He went to the gates 22nd in qualifying times.

Thrasher was later in the field in the first 250SMX moto before pulling off after only four full laps. The #57 Yamaha was not on the line for the second moto, replaced by Cole Thompson, so his DNF-DNS scored 21st overall on the day.
Yamaha said the following about Thrasher in their post-race release:
“Unfortunately, Nate Thrasher crashed earlier in the day and tried to race but ultimately withdrew.
Unfortunately, it was a tough return to racing for Thrasher, who had a crash in qualifying, which resulted in a hematoma on his leg. The Tennessee rider lined up for the first moto but ultimately withdrew from the race. He will be evaluated during the week, and an update will follow.”
