Eagles issue estimated injury report ahead of Buccaneers game

The Philadelphia Eagles issued their first official injury report on Wednesday in advance of their Week 4 road game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Note that this report is an estimation because the team held a walkthrough in lieu of a normal practice.

The Eagles listed three players under DID NOT PARTICIPATE: A.J. Brown, DeVonta Smith, and Lane Johnson.

Brown missed the Eagles’ last two matchups due to a hamstring injury. It looks like he could be in jeopardy of missing a third straight game. The Eagles are seemingly hoping to get Brown back after the Week 5 bye.

Smith is in the concussion protocol and thus must be cleared to return by an independent doctor (as opposed to team doctor) before he can play. Smith was not seen during the media-attended portion of Wednesday’s practice.

By contrast, Johnson was seen attending the Eagles’ walkthrough. That much could indicate Johnson is closer to returning to action than Smith is.

The Eagles listed two players under LIMITED PARTICIPATION: Mekhi Becton and Landon Dickerson.

Becton told reporters he suffered a torn ligament in his left ring finger but will be able to start at right guard and play with a cast on.

Dickerson will likely play but it seems he’s effectively hampered right now. Pro Football Focus highlighted how he struggled in Week 3:

Landon Dickerson had a rough outing in Week 3, giving up six pressures — including two sacks — which is tied for the second most in a game over his career. Dickerson is allowing pressure on 10.4% of dropbacks this season. His previous worst rate was 6.4% as a rookie

One player was listed under FULL PARTICIPATION: Darius Slay.

Slay will be able to play despite Trevor Penning injuring him with a dirty block.

TAMPA BAY BUCCANEERS INJURY REPORT (WEDNESDAY)

The Eagles’ injury situation certainly isn’t ideal but the Bucs are also pretty banged up.

Two key starters did not practice: All-Pro safety Antoine Winfield Jr. and defensive tackle Calijah Kancey.

Winfield hasn’t played since Week 1. Kancey hasn’t been able to play since suffering an injury in practice leading up to Week 1.

The Bucs listed nine players as limited: starting wide receiver Mike Evans, starting wide receiver Chris Godwin, leading rusher Bucky Irving, starting left tackle Tristin Wirfs, starting center Graham Barton, starting right tackle Luke Goedeke, starting nose tackle Vita Vea, starting defensive lineman William Gholston, and starting defensive lineman Logan Hall.

Some, if not all, of those limited players will be able to suit up on Sunday. But they might be playing at less than 100%. And some might indeed miss the game.
