Derek Carr‘s Monday night outing ended with just more than six minutes of game time remaining.

Carr left to the locker room with an oblique injury during his New Orleans Saints’ 26-13 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs.

Carr, who simply answered “not good” when asked how he was feeling following the game, said he would have an MRI on Tuesday.

“You know me, I’m going to do anything I can to be there,” Carr said when asked about his status for New Orleans’ Week 6 game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Initially deemed questionable to return, Carr never came back while backup Jake Haener finished out the evening.

Carr was 18 of 28 for 165 yards, two touchdowns and an interception. He was sacked just once, but was hit eight times and pressured on 51.7% of his dropbacks.

The injury didn’t occur on any particular hit, but on a throw, Carr explained. He was hopeful of doing something to manage it to stay in the game, but there wasn’t enough time left for that to happen.

“I couldn’t do what I needed to do,” Carr said. “In the simplest form and I asked if there was anything we can do about it and there was not enough time to do that. So, I would have done anything to be out there and keep fighting, but I couldn’t. It sucks.”

Now, he has just six days to get ready to play again on Sunday. That’s all pending Tuesday’s results, of course.
