Every year it is the most popular event among Zwifters and today it all starts again: the Tour of Watopia. For over a month participants can ride different routes and – for many perhaps more importantly – earn double XP. Thousands of riders and athletes participate every year.
This year the Tour of Watopia takes place between October 15 and November 24 and has five stages. Each stage in turn consists of three routes, which vary in length and number of altimeters, and can be ridden individually or in groups.
First stage starts today; the longest route is the ‘Watopia Mountaine Route’ over 30.2 kilometers, including 683 altimeters. In addition, participants can choose Watopia Figure 8 (30.2 kilometers, 255 altimeters) and Whole Lotta Lava (17.1 kilometers, 190 altimeters). As always, there is also a women-only stage.
Stage one lasts from Oct. 15 to Oct. 22, followed by stage two (Oct. 22-29), stage three (Oct. 29-Nov. 5) and stage four (Nov. 5-12). The routes of stage five will not be announced until later, but the stage lasts from Nov. 12 to Nov. 19. The last five days can be used by riders to catch up on any stages/routes.
More information about the stages and routes can be found here. Stage 2 includes the tough climb of the virtual Alpe d’Huez.
