Captain Price is a distinguished mariner who has made significant contributions to the maritime industry through her extensive career and dedicated service. Most notably, she gained valuable experiences at G&H Towing Company, a harbor assist tug company based in Galveston, Texas.
During her 15-year tenure at G&H, Captain Price made history as the company’s first female officer and later the first female Captain. Her role involved assisting ships in and out of ports, including Houston, Galveston, Texas City, Freeport, and Corpus Christi, planning daily operations, coordinating with the crew, monitoring the vessel’s safety and operations at sea, and more. This role required constant vigilance, adaptability, and effective logistics management. Among other noteworthy roles, in September 2022, Captain Price was sought out and selected to be one of four Falcon Recovery Captains at SpaceX. Captain Price resigned from her position at SpaceX in 2024.
Captain Price went to university at SUNY Maritime College where she achieved her Bachelor of Science in Marine Environmental Sciences and her U.S. Coast Guard 3rd Mate Unlimited Tonnage License in 2007. Highly qualified in her field, Captain Price has received many credentials from the U.S. Coast Guard, including Master of self-propelled vessels of various capacities, her Master of Towing Vessels, her designation as a designated examiner, as well as holding first-class pilotage in multiple ports.
Active in the maritime professional community, Captain Price is a board member for WomenOffshore as well as an active member of the Women’s International Shipping and Trading Association. She has also been serving as a committee member of the National Towing Safety Advisory Committee and the National Merchant Marine Personnel Advisory Committee since 2021, where she addresses critical issues within the maritime sector.
In addition to her work-related contributions, Captain Price has volunteered with many local Maritime Programs in the Houston area since 2013. She is the Captain at her local volunteer fire department station and has been with the Seabrook Volunteer Fire Department since 2020, where she serves her community both as a fire freighter and medical provider.
Captain Price aspires to become a harbor pilot responsible for navigating vessels in and out of ports. She currently holds pilotage in five U.S. ports and is pursuing her sixth. Attaining a pilotage license involves memorizing and hand-drawing navigational charts in an extensive testing process. The harbor pilot provides expertise in specific ports, guiding ships with local knowledge to ensure safe navigation through narrow channels.
In recognition of her success, Captain Price was named to Maritime’s 40 under 40 and was recognized by her alma-mater being presented the Admiral’s Award. An active competitive swimmer, she was featured on the cover of Swimmer magazine, has climbed some of the tallest mountains in the world, and has been a guest on many podcasts. Captain Price attributes her success to her strong work ethic and determination, which she learned from her mother at a young age.
