The anticipation for his return grows with each passing day. Although the extent of his usage remains uncertain, Kendre Miller’s return on Sunday is nearly set in stone.
The New Orleans Saints expects their second year running back Kendre Miller to return during their visit to East Rutherford. After injuring his hamstring against the Chargers, the Saints placed him on injured reserve for the second time this year.
“Kendre and I met the first day that I took over, and we had a great conversation,” Interim Head Coach Darren Rizzi said on Tuesday. “I told him he had a clean slate and that I’m going to judge him based on what he does from that day moving forward.”
Miller has shown glimpses of his potential as a running back in his cameos throughout his young career, before injuries slowed his progress. One even as recent as the game where he injured his hamstring.
Rizzi’s description of him as a change of pace makes sense. With just one move, Miller makes three guys miss.
“Kendre brings a different type of back that we’re playing with right now,” Rizzi said on Tuesday.
Last year’s Week 18 matchup against the Falcons was another time he showed off his talents.
Another highlight of Miller’s was in last season’s preseason finale, where he shows that he can do more than just run the ball.
“I got all the confidence in the world,” Miller said yesterday.
Sunday’s matchup in East Rutherford, N.J. will be against the ailing New York Giants. Kick off will be at noon, with temperatures expected to be in the low 40’s.
