Eagles running back Saquon Barkley has previously talked about the friendly rivalry he has with Derrick Henry, with the pair often the leading rushers in the NFL. Barkley had only ever topped Henry once, back in 2018, but they both fell short of the rushing title to Ezekiel Elliott that season. But, everything changed this season in Philly behind the Eagles’ offensive line.
Barkley finished the 2024 season with 2,005 total rushing yards, putting his name in the history books among the only other eight running backs to hit the 2k mark. The incredible feat also earned him his first rushing title, besting Henry’s 1,921 total rushing yards this season.
The duo admitted that they’re usually loosely aware of how the other is performing, and Barkley was keeping an eye on Henry in Baltimore’s regular season finale on Saturday. With Barkley, and the rest of the Eagles starters, sitting out in Week 18 against the Giants, Henry still had a chance to make a push for the title.
Thankfully, Barkley was able to keep his top spot and earn another career first in Philly. The RB called signing with the Eagles one of the best decisions of his life, and he deserves all the accolades he gets.
