The NFL MVP Award battle became a two-man race during the final weeks of the regular season, and there’s been a lot of debate regarding which one is more deserving.
Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen or Baltimore Ravens signal-caller Lamar Jackson?
Although voting is taking place before the playoffs begin this weekend, the NFL MVP winner won’t be announced until Feb. 6, when the annual NFL Honors event is held in New Orleans during Super Bowl week.
So, the conversation will continue until then about whether Allen or Jackson is more deserving of the top award.
With the regular season done, here are the latest NFL MVP odds, followed by a closer look at the top contenders and a prediction for who will take the crown.

Josh Allen, QB, Buffalo Bills
Allen led the Bills to a 13-4 regular season and their fifth consecutive AFC East title. The quarterback threw for 3,731 yards, 28 touchdowns and six interceptions, while also rushing for 531 yards and 12 scores.
Throughout the year, the 28-year-old put up consistently strong numbers. But his most impressive performance came in Week 14 vs. the Los Angeles Rams, when he accounted for six total touchdowns (three passing and three rushing) in a 44-42 loss.
Lamar Jackson, QB, Baltimore Ravens
There wasn’t much Jackson didn’t do during his standout 2024 season. He threw for 4,172 yards, 41 touchdowns and four interceptions, and he also ran for 915 yards and four scores while leading the Ravens to a 12-5 record and their second consecutive AFC North title.
The 28-year-old’s 77.5 Total Quarterback Rating was the best in the NFL. He threw 16 touchdown passes over his final six games of the regular season.
Saquon Barkley, RB, Philadelphia Eagles
It’s obvious Barkley had the best offensive season by a non-quarterback in 2024.
The 27-year-old running back led the NFL with 2,005 rushing yards while scoring 15 touchdowns during his debut season in Philadelphia (and he played only 16 games, sitting during the final week of the regular season).
Barkley became only the ninth player to rush for more than 2,000 yards in a season. He ranked eighth, only 100 yards behind the all-time record of 2,105 set by Eric Dickerson for the Rams in 1984.

It will be either Allen or Jackson who wins NFL MVP this season. It would be a massive upset if Barkley or one of the other dark horses finished ahead of either quarterback.
Both are deserving winners, too. They were the top two QBs in the league this season, and they each led their team to a strong year. Neither the Bills nor the Ravens likely would have had as much success without their star signal-caller.
Jackson’s numbers look more impressive on paper. And he has a legitimate case to become a three-time NFL MVP after previously winning the award in the 2019 and 2023 seasons.
Allen has never previously won the award, but his strong stats and great leadership in Buffalo could ensure he receives the honor this year.
This could be a close vote, and it wouldn’t be surprising if either quarterback won.
Considering the latest odds, though, it feels like Allen is the NFL MVP front-runner. The voters may be leaning his way because of just how much of an impact he made on the Bills this season, putting them in a position to again be among the top teams in the AFC.
So, the prediction here is that Allen will be named the NFL MVP, emerging victorious in one of the closest races for the award in recent memory.
