Draymond Green Publicly Exposes NBA as Adam Silver Confirms Making Changes to 3-Point Rule

The NBA All-Star selections are just around the corner. Some fresh faces will make their debut, while familiar ones will add another badge to their collection. For legends like LeBron James and Stephen Curry, it’s business as usual. But not everyone shares the same excitement. Warriors veteran Draymond Green has his doubts. Are the All-Star games really a celebration of talent, or just a flashy popularity contest? Besides, the NBA Commissioner made vows for some massive changes in the league and it’s not just about the ASG!

NBA Commissioner Adam Silver isn’t rushing to push the three-point line back—at least not yet. Speaking on The Herd with Colin Cowherd, he admitted changes are coming to curb the long-range shooting spree. But it’s not as easy as it sounds. “I don’t want to knee-jerk move the three-point line,” he said, explaining that shifting it could crowd the paint and make the game less exciting.

Silver assured fans, “We’re on it,” and promised smart tweaks to keep the game balanced. It’s all part of the process, as the saying goes. The Commissioner wants to bring back the league’s spark, by hook or crook. Even if it means pushing the three-point away or altering the All-Star format.

“It’s 1000% a popularity show,” Draymond Green declared on The Draymond Green Show. And he’s not alone in thinking so. Many believe the All-Star games are just a stage for the league’s biggest names. The selection process? A mix of fan love and expert opinions. Fans hold the most power with 50% of the vote, while players and media split the remaining 50%.

“It’s definitely a popularity contest,” DrayMagic repeats and clears his stance for Adam Silver’s troubling ASG drama. “At some point with this All-Star stuff and the voting in general. They gotta get it figured out, man. It’s just too all over the place. Too many opinions that don’t really have a real opinion, but they gotta say something. It’s just too all over the place for me, if I’m honest about it.”

Adam Silver‘s new All-Star format is already under fire. Now throw in doubts about the voting system, and you’ve got the perfect recipe for drama. This year, it’s a whole new game—literally. The classic matchup is gone, replaced by a mini-tournament with four teams and three games. NBA legends Kenny Smith, Shaq, and Charles Barkley will lead three squads, while WNBA icon Candace Parker takes charge of the Rising Stars champs.

This is a way to bring back the flame the ASG had once upon a time. Because the players aren’t working enough to bring the entertainment quotient. As you can guess, a lot is going on, and Draymond Green isn’t particularly a fan of the mayhem. So, does Adam Silver need to figure everything out? Yes.

Moreover, the 34-year-old 4x All-Star believes that playing in the Eastern Conference isn’t as favorable if you want “popularity”.

Draymond Green picks his guards from the East amidst skepticism over the All-Stars

“If I’m honest, there ain’t much popularity doing anything in the Eastern Conference, right?” Draymond Green gave an unfiltered opinion. Well, he might not be wrong in this case. The Eastern teams might have ‘less popular’ players than the West which has the biggest names like LeBron James, Stephen Curry, and Kevin Durant.

“Like, when you look across the East, you got Boston with JT and JB, right? From the Knicks, you gonna have KAT and Jalen. From Milwaukee, you gonna have Dame and Giannis. Orlando would have had one or two guys early in the season, but they’ve been hurt the rest of the year,” Green adds. For Orlando Magic, this season has been painful. They missed their star player Paulo Banchero for a long time and now they have Franz Wagner and Moritz Wagner ruled out due to injuries. “Atlanta will get Trae Young in. Detroit will get Cade in. Miami may be Herro. Maybe. But after that, Charlotte will get LaMelo in,” Draymond Green further listed.

“So when you look at the guards, you got LaMelo, Donovan, Jalen Brunson, DG, Dame—that’s five guards. And Cade Cunningham—that’s six guards, all right. Now you got Giannis, JT, Evan, Jalen Brown, Jared Allen, and Kat. That’s your 12 All-Stars. Six guards and six bigs—that’s your 12 All-Stars.”
