Put in Dirt by Noah Lyles 36M YouTuber Backed by Sha’Carri Richardson Over Olympics Dream

Bragging in front of Noah Lyles? Bad idea. The man isn’t just the fastest on the planet—he’s also the biggest bragger in track, and honestly, he’s got the gold medals to back it up. Just ask YouTuber IShowSpeed, who, despite having 36 million subscribers and the confidence of a superhero, still got smoked by Lyles in their 50-meter race. Well, remember last year when Speed challenged him? Lyles made it look easy, walked away with a $100,000 prize, and probably had time to flex while doing it. But Speed? Oh, he’s not done yet. Now, he’s calling out Sha’Carri Richardson.

Yeah, the one they call the next Flo Jo, known for her speed, bold style, and unshakable attitude. But here’s the thing—racing Sha’Carri isn’t just about trying to keep up. She’s got the talent to leave you in the dust and the personality to make sure you never forget it. And when YouTuber IShowSpeed tried to call her out for a race, she didn’t just say no—she schooled him with humor.

Sha’Carri Richardson’s no-nonsense response

It all went down on February 9th at the 2025 Super Bowl between the Philadelphia Eagles and Kansas City Chiefs. Richardson, attending the game with her rumored boyfriend, ran into Speed while he was streaming live. Wasting no time, he threw down the challenge: “Let’s race right now then.” But the sprint queen shut it down immediately. “I don’t race for free,” she shot back. Not one to back down, Speed pushed again. “See, everybody be ducking. Oh, I’m sick of these excuses.” But Sha’Carri stood firm. “I’m not ducking. Come work out first—do an Olympian track workout—then we’ll talk.” It was clear: if Speed wanted to race, he’d have to prove he could handle the work first.

That’s when Sha’Carri Richardson made her offer. “Before you race, I gotta teach you how to be a sprinter first. So if you wanna come down to my training camp, maybe train for a week or a couple of days, we’ll see.” Speed, still eager, bargained: “How about a day? After a day, I race you?” Sha’Carri agreed but made sure he knew what he was signing up for. “Okay, if you want a day, you do my entire workout first. But you gotta do what I do… You gotta be a track athlete before you race.” That’s when it hit him. “Imma be burnt,” he admitted.

Sha’Carri Richardson, ever the competitor, just laughed. “No, you’re not. I do it every day.” Speed tried one last time. “So why don’t we just set a date?” To which Sha’Carri simply replied, “We’ll message about our dates.” Now the real question is—can Speed survive even one day of Olympian-level training? Because Sha’Carri isn’t just fast; she works like it’s a 9-to-5, except her office is the track, and her meetings involve sprinting at full speed. We’re talking brutal speed drills, endurance runs, agility work, and weighted training.  But hey, maybe Speed needs this.

IShowSpeed thought he was fast… until he met Noah Lyles

After getting absolutely cooked by Noah Lyles, he did say, “2028, I’ll be running in the Olympics for sure.” Was that confidence? Coping? Delusion? Hard to say. But with Sha’Carri Richardson offering him a crash course in what it takes, Speed might just find out if his Olympic dream is real—or if he’s just really good at talking. But at the same time when SCR was asked, “So, you’re an amazing Olympian—if you could train anyone, who would it be?

SCR replied, “Oh my God, there are so many choices! But I’d say—though they probably shouldn’t say I would pick—Teyana Taylor. And also, what’s the genius’s name? IShowSpeed! I will train him on how to actually be fast.” Sarcastic? Absolutely. But let’s be honest—some time with Sha’Carri on the track might be exactly what Speed needs. With just a few years left before the LA 2028 Olympics, the question is: can Speed turn his viral energy into actual elite athleticism, or is this just another wild idea from the internet’s most unpredictable streamer?

Back in November 2024, IShowSpeed—real name Darren Watkins Jr.—shocked fans by announcing his plan to ditch social media (at least partially) to pursue track and field. The 20-year-old content creator revealed at ComplexCon in Las Vegas that he was serious about competing at the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games. “I’m going to do 100m and 50m, and maybe 200m,” he declared. The host quickly reminded him that the Olympics don’t have a 50m race, but Speed didn’t seem too worried about the details.

His Olympic dreams took shape after racing against gold medalist Noah Lyles in a 50m dash. There, he came surprisingly close to winning a $100,000 prize offered by MrBeast. Lyles, though impressed, made it clear that Speed still had a long way to go. “You should practice with me, and then at the end of the week, we’ll race again. You’ll be faster, you’ll know what to do, you’ll have the techniques, you’ll have the advantage. Then we can run the real man’s race—the 100 meters,” Lyles advised.

After taking the win, Lyles donated his prize money to charity. But, Speed walked away with a newfound respect for elite sprinters. Now, with Sha’Carri Richardson potentially stepping in as a mentor, could he have a shot at making the LA 2028 Olympic trials? Or will this just be another viral challenge for the books?
