Authorities have been under pressure to implement measures that would prevent further chaos as thousands of pilgrims continue to head to Prayagraj for the Maha Kumbh Mela.

Following the tragic stampede at New Delhi Railway Station that left at least 18 dead, the Northern Railway has announced special train services for the Maha Kumbh Mela to manage the heavy rush of passengers.
A press release from the Northern Railway revealed the schedule for four new special trains designed to handle the increased demand. These include Train No. 04420, which will travel from New Delhi to Prayagraj Junction via Ghaziabad, Moradabad, Bareilly, Lucknow, and Rae Bareli, departing at 19:00 hrs. Train No. 04422 will also travel the same route, leaving at 21:00 hrs.
Additionally, Train No. 04424 will depart from Anand Vihar Terminal to Prayagraj Junction, following the same route, at 20:00 hrs. Another service, Train No. 04418, will run from New Delhi to Darbhanga, passing through Ghaziabad, Kanpur, Lucknow, Varanasi, and Patna, departing at 15:00 hrs.
