Harsh Goenka shares inspiring tale of ex-IAF officer reuniting with daughter after 5 years on flight

RPG Enterprises chairman Harsh Goenka, known for sharing interesting tales on social media, on Wednesday yet again surprised his followers with another inspiring story of a former Indian Air Force Wing Commander Ashok Ketkar, who met his daughter after five years.

Goenka, in his tweet, stated that the wheelchair-bound veteran Wing Commander boarded a flight to Delhi from Mumbai, but little did he know he would be reunited with his daughter and grandson.

Taking to X, Goenka wrote, “At Mumbai airport, a wheelchair-bound veteran, Wing Commander Ashok Ketkar, boarded a flight to Delhi. He had lost both legs in service, but what truly broke him was losing his daughter Bhargavi, who married against his wishes.”

This was the same daughter with whom Ashok Ketkar had not spoken for the past five years. However, during the flight, an announcement was made, in which the pilot introduced Ashok as a war hero and then added, “Sir, the girl you cut off relations with, your daughter Bhargavi is the one flying this aircraft.”

Following this, a boy handed him water. He was no one else, but allegedly his grandson.

Soon, his daughter Bhargavi emerged from the cockpit, saluted him, and said: “Baba, I followed your dream. I’m a pilot now. Please forgive me.”

After they, both father and daughter embraced each other, with tears flowing from their eyes. In between, ex-Wing Commander Ashok Ketkar’s grandson said, “Grandpa, I want to be a fighter pilot like you.”

With the sun setting outside, the flight descended towards Delhi and Ashok Ketkar’s life once again taken off, just like his jet fighter.

The tweet by Goenka has now gone viral and has 11.8k views.

Here’s how the netizens reacted:

One wrote, “If Mani Ratnam reads this, he will give shape this story and direct a movie. Like.”

Another follower wrote, “Ki sundor!!”

A third user asked, “Is this a true story?”

“It’s a good story but there is no officer by that name in Indian Air Force. In which commercial flight children serve water to the passengers,” a fourth asked.

A fifth person wrote, “Respected Sir, so far there is no credible evidence to confirm its authenticity!”

“Kabhi kabhi aap rula bhi dete ho…” a sixth person commented.

A seventh person wrote, “best thing read on the internet today.”
