Deion Sanders Shares Wholesome Moment With His Son, Shilo, After Settling Massive 40-Yard Dash Bet

The focus of the Colorado Buffaloes has been on three central figures – Heisman Trophy winner Travis Hunter, quarterback Shedeur Sanders, and head coach Deion Sanders. A certified NFL legend, Sanders has been instrumental in turning the program on its head and making it into a legitimate Division 1 football contender.

But, swept under the radar with all the hype around his younger brother has been Coach Prime’s third son, Shilo Sanders. A senior safety for the Buffaloes, he is also trying to find a home in the NFL when the 2025 NFL Draft rolls around in Green Bay.

But before that day arrived, the 25-year-old had a very wholesome interaction with his father.

Deion Sanders and Shilo Sanders Clear a Bet

It has been a wildly exciting week in Colorado. With their two superstars skipping out on the NFL Scouting Combine, their Pro Day was one of the last chances teams and scouts were going to get to assess two players many believe will land near the top of the draft.

However, it also put a spotlight on other players striving to become pros, as they were allowed to showcase their talent. Among that pool was Shilo Sanders, but to make things interesting, the Canton native made an intriguing bet with his dad and head coach.

As the former Dallas Cowboys superstar sat down with Steve Wyche to discuss his players, the details of the bet came to light. The results of the 40-yard dash could have afforded the younger Sanders a major gift.

If the safety had run a 40-yard in under 4.4 seconds, the two-time Super Bowl Champion was supposed to buy him any car of his choosing. However, his official number came out to 4.52, leaving a dejected son to embrace his father.

“I saved you some money tonight.” However, Coach Prime wasn’t looking to tear his son down. Kissing him on the forehead, he responded, “I’m proud of you. I like it.” But when he wasn’t convinced, Sanders added, “You did your thing, I’m proud of you, dawg.”

Even the media members, Wyche and Brian “Baldy” Baldinger remarked, “Aw, you gotta love that, Deion,” before the man in charge revealed, “He had a car. I had a car on it, that’s what he’s talking about. A car if he ran a 4.4.”

In his two years at Colorado, Shilo put together solid seasons, tallying 67 tackles apiece in both years while adding a sack and five forced fumbles to his tally. However, he is currently slated to go undrafted according to PFSN’s latest mock draft.

But, with his genes and pedigree, it wouldn’t be a shock to see some team go after Shilo, even as an undrafted free agent.
