Wha’s the big deal about tariffs?
I think the we are being punked. You have to ask yourself: Why did so many manufacturing jobs leave the USA to begin with? Nixon in his foreign policy genius gave China favored nation trading status. What drove the industrial revolution was an abundant source of cheap raw materials and CHEAP LABOR!
In order to buy into this plan you have to believe that the same party who motivated and allowed manafacturers to ship manafacturering overseas are now, going to bring it back. A good life demands overcoming obstacles. We certainly have some obstacles to overcome in this plan.
The reason you have cheap stuff at Walmart is because China and other foreign labor rates are very cheap. If you move all that manafacturing back to the inflated labor rate in the USA, prices will go up. They willl increase the difference in the labor rate plus any tariff attached! We don’t have all the raw materials needed so we have to buy them from other countries. Perhaps with tarrifs! You cannot build be build a wall around a country, be an isolationist and have a better economy! Ah! You say your labor rate has not inflated! Talk to your Union Representaive and elected legislators about that.
So, clearlly history shows us if you are trying to keep inflation down that plan is going to do just the opposite. They are presenting you with the projection of short-term pain, long-term gain. Perhaps, not until after the depression! The pain may not be so short-term! You can bet Chainsaw Elon and blow heart Donnie won’t feel the kind of pain you will.
At the end of the Reagan adminisration the Republicans were despondent because they could not embellish the threat of the Soviet Union to engage in a cold war, increase defense spending to bring us out of the stag-flation recession and still cut social welfare programs. Reagan presided over the first trillion dollar budget…. continued deficit spending. This is when Republicans lost their fiscal conservative stripes. Balanced budgets died with Republican administrations. They certainly engaged in increased deficit spending with their superfluous war profiteering. Trump, outdid all Presidents with an 8 Trillion dollar inflationary deficit.
The only balanced budget since Eisenhower was Clinton. Let’s not credit that Razorback so much, his balanced budget was more because Republicans did try to be fiscal conservatives. However, it was only when they were not in the White House. Clinton also gave us media monopolies with his FCC bill. Monopolies are inflationary its embedded in lack of competition and the model for expected EPS.
The end of the Reagan administration is when the GOP decided the only path was to spend so much money, there would be no more to spend.They then could get rid of social welfare programs something the Core base of the GOP has wanted to do since Social Security was passed. They act like all the overspending was for social welfare programs and none of it for war profiteering. The GOP is now almost completely owned and controled by the Core base of the GOP;Project 2025!
Therefore what is going on now is a rouse. Why would you build plants here to manufacture goods when the labor rate is so inflated your product might not be competitve in a global market. My developer gets mad at me if I don’t pay on time as then he cannot pay his employees he has hired all overseas. It would take anywhere from 4 to 10 years to bring significant manufacturing back here, if it would happen to any great extent at all. If you made all the parts for all the cars here in the USA, the price of the car will go up significantly unless there is some significant drop in the labor rates. They made the parts overseas and assembled the autos here to keep the final prices of the autos down. I have to believe the Trump administration knows all this as he is full of marketing skills with embellishement and tie downs. He is also speaks with forked tongue.
They are trying to bankrupt the government and in the process loot it for their own enrichment. They want to get rid of social welfare programs and regulations. They also don’t want to follow the rules. We could get rid of social welfare programs and replace them with only two programs. They don’t want any social welfare programs. The reason you have medicaid and the ACC also known as Obama Care is the GOP’s refusal to vote for a Single Payer Healh Care system like the rest of the Western Civilized World. Or, even a public option in the ACC. It is the only known way to control inflation in health care industry and get everyone covered. Go ahead, blame Biden for all the injflation. But your legislators are being legally bribed by the Health Care Industry.I don’t suport it at all but it is why the CEO for UHC got assassinated.
The Ayn Rand GOP base (project 2025) believes government is for the defense of the country only. They do not believe in a public domain and they hate government. They think our National Parks should be owned by the private sector for profit exploitation. The corrupt SCOTUS has legalized corruption making it almost impossible to convict anyone for fraud. The Trump administration’s Bimbo DOJ said they would not prosecute or investigate foreign entities bribing our government officials. Wow! They like all that money they can get from foreign entitys to help them get elected as well as line their pockets. They surely don’t want to go to jail for it.
They want corruption legalized and furthered that goal by not prosecuting New York Major Eric Adams. ‘Hey! So he took a bribe from a foreigner as long as he will help us kick the immigrants out and help make America whiter he‘s OK with us‘. I wonder is their is a conversion center for Uncle Tom’s?

This is why we study history and this is why the GOP wants to rewrite and lie about history. Telling the truth would expose them to their actual records and not get them elected. Well, they know we don’t seem to be educated enough collectively to look past the last four years.
