John Lennon’s Son Hits Back Over Late Dad Comment—’Insulted My Father’

The younger son of The Beatles legend John Lennon has hit back at a social media user who “insulted” his father.

Sean Ono Lennon, 48, son of the late rocker and his wife Yoko Ono, posted a comment on X, formerly Twitter, seemingly about the site’s owner, Elon Musk.

“When an architect designs a building that collapses, his career is ruined. When an intellectual creates an idea that unravels society, he gets speaking engagements,” he wrote on Tuesday. His posts in the minutes prior referred to former President Donald Trump’s interview with internet personality Farokh Sarmad, writing: “DT talking to @farokh was not on my bingo card.”

Lennon then replied to his own post by referring to the Tesla CEO: “Just remember what happened when Elon went on SNL. Everyone thought we were gonna moon.”

While the musician and producer did not elaborate on who he was referring to in his post about architects and intellectuals, he did get into a heated exchange with X user @kpcycles, who had replied to him: “Your dad has a speaking engagement coming up?”

Lennon told @kpcycles: “No but your mom and I have a date coming up.”

Another X user, @johnflyover, chided him for his comments.

“I’m laughing as I type this, but you can’t say that. No, don’t say anything about anyone’s mum!” they replied.

To which Lennon told him: “He insulted my father. That’s exactly when it’s appropriate.”

Newsweek contacted Lennon’s representatives by email for comment.

Lennon is no stranger to sharing his opinions online and recently spoke about Trump writing “I HATE TAYLOR SWIFT!” on Truth Social after the famous singer endorsed Kamala Harris for the presidential election.

“I can’t think of a single song so I don’t really know if I like it or not,” Lennon said of Swift’s music. “But I know she is a uniquely successful American. A young woman who has done things in a way that no one has done before her.”

Lennon continued later in the post: “A more ‘presidential’ or gracious criticism might have been something like ‘She is a brilliant young woman. I have a lot of respect for what she has accomplished. I don’t believe she knows the reality of the party she is endorsing. I hope her fans are able to make up their own minds and understand the big difference between a talent in music and an understanding of politics or economics.'”

He also wrote it was a “not a good look” for “some old grumpy dude to get angry at her,” referring to Trump’s post about Swift.
