Gabrielle Union Misses Dwyane Wade’s Lunch Date as Daughter Takes Over Father’s Responsibility

Dwyane Wade was on a lunch date with his “favortie woman” just this month and now it’s another key lady from his life. If your guess for his favorite woman was Gabrielle Union, you’re wrong. And if you think maybe the second lunch date was with Gab, you’re wrong again. Confused already? Well, we got you covered with the updates on 3x NBA champ’s recent outings in discussion.

The Flash, as some fans would know, has been celebrating his mother’s birthday month. Yep, Wade’s mother turned 70 this November 7. And on the special occasion, he shared an IG story with the caption–“Took my favorite woman on a lunch date yesterday.” More recently, however, D-Wade was out for lunch with his daughter Zaya. And rather than the flash, it was the 17-year-old who chauffeured her father to the destination. “@zayawade drove the old man to lunch,” read 3x NBA champ’s IG story.

This came amid the ongoing celebration of Dwyane Wade’s mother’s birthday. The Miami Heat icon had earlier called for a month-long celebration for Jolinda Wade’s birthday. “All of November my first favorite lady is getting celebrated for turning 70th…” he had written on Instagram with a picture of himself and his mother.

D-Wade has had immense love and support for Jolinda. So much so that he bought her a church back in 2022. “I respect my mother so much, from the life that she used to live and to see her today in the life that she lives. I’m so proud of her,” the 3x NBA champ told The Associated Press back then, reflecting on his mother’s challenges of overcoming substance abuse and prison time. And now he has had similar support for his daughter who had her own challenges to overcome.

Zaya Wade’s major project honors Dwyane Wade for his support

Zaya’s initiative, Translatable, recently brought her father into the spotlight for all the right reasons. If you’re unfamiliar, Translatable is a safe space designed for LGBTQIA+ individuals. And on Trans Remembrance Day, it paid a heartfelt tribute to D-Wade’s unwavering support.

“In This Country, [As a Trans Person] You’re in a constant battle to justify your right to simply exist. And as a parent, it is my job to protect and support my child to exist in this world freely,” the post by Translatable highlighted Wade’s words from the past. The IG post also highlighted the Elevate Prize Catalyst Award that Zaya’s initiative bestowed upon the Miami Heat icon.

For years, Dwyane and Gabrielle Union Wade have been an inspiring example of unconditional support. Their decision to move from Florida to California for Zaya’s comfort speaks volumes about their priorities as parents. “I mean, obviously, the tax [situation] is great. Having Wade County is great. But my family would not be accepted or feel comfortable there. And so that’s one of the reasons why I don’t live there,” Wade had said of the move.

Clearly, Dwyane Wade holds high regard for the women of his house and the reciprocation of it is just as visible in Zaya driving her father to a lunch.
