Scottsdale, Arizona Plane Crash: Everything We Know

One person was killed, and several others were injured when a private jet owned by Mötley Crüe singer Vince Neil collided with another aircraft Monday afternoon at Scottsdale Airport in Arizona, authorities said.

According to Neil’s representative, Worrick Robinson IV, the jet was landing when it veered off the runway and struck a parked plane. The aircraft, arriving from Austin, Texas, carried two pilots and two passengers, but Neil was not on board. However, the 64-year-old’s girlfriend, Rain Hannah Andreani, 43, and her friend were rushed to hospital following the deadly smash, and one of the two pilots on board was killed.

Scottsdale Fire Department Captain Dave Folio reported that among the injured, two were transported to trauma centers, while one remained in stable condition at a hospital.

As of 7:35 p.m. ET, Folio said that one person was still trapped inside one of the planes, stating, “We’re doing everything we can to extricate and save the one soul that’s still on board.”

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) shared the following statement later on Monday afternoon:

“A Learjet 35A veered off the runway after landing and crashed into a Gulfstream 200 business jet on the ramp at Scottsdale Airport (SDL) in Arizona around 2:45 p.m. local time Monday, Feb. 10. We do not know how many people were on board. The FAA is temporarily pausing flights into the airport.”

Newsweek emailed the Scottsdale Airport on Monday afternoon for additional comment.

Why It Matters

The Scottsdale collision follows three major U.S. aviation disasters in the past two weeks. On January 29, a commercial jetliner and an Army helicopter collided near the nation’s capital, resulting in 67 fatalities.

Two days later, on January 31, a medical transport plane crashed in Philadelphia, killing all six people on board and one person on the ground. Last week, a small commuter plane en route to Nome, Alaska, crashed in western Alaska, claiming the lives of all 10 passengers.

What To Know

According to Scottsdale officials, the crash at the municipal airport occurred around 2:30 p.m. MT. A ground stop is currently in effect at the airport in Maricopa County, Arizona.

Footage from the scene showed a plane on the ground surrounded by multiple ambulances and fire engines.

Scottsdale Airport, owned by the city of Scottsdale, is a general aviation airport, primarily serving private and corporate aircraft. Known for its proximity to luxury resorts, golf courses, and major events like the Waste Management Open, it is one of the busiest single-runway airports in the country with over 130,000 takeoffs and landings every year.

While it does not have commercial airline service, it plays a key role in executive and business travel, especially during peak tourism and sports seasons.

Officials say a jet landed then veered off the runway and crashed into another plane on the ramp.
