Test Drive Unlimited Solar Crown Is Getting Two Long Overdue Features

We’d given up on Test Drive Unlimited Solar Crown. The dwindling player count suggests that many of you have also given up on Solar Crown. Developer KT Racing, however, has not given up on Solar Crown, and will finally add a few long overdue features to the game.

It revealed its plans for the upcoming third season of the game during last night’s Nacon Connect, in which the publisher also announced sim racing title Rennsport will head to consoles.

Once the update lands on 19 March, you’ll finally be able to take on the game’s races without being forced into a multiplayer lobby. Solo mode will allow you to skip any chance of coming across other players and having to deal with forced lobby wait times, one of our biggest bugbears with the title, and race just against AI.

You will also be able to pause these races and quickly restart them. In case you haven’t played TDU, these are things you couldn’t do. We know…

Coming back to AI, that second feature we alluded to in the headline is the ability to change AI difficulty. Yes, it’s quite frankly ridiculous that it’s taken this long for such a simple pair of features to be added to the game, but it’s better late than never. It’ll be appreciated, as TDU’s execution of an automatically-variable difficulty level has been awful, to be honest.

Season 3 is coming this month!

✅Convoy Missions
✅Navigation Mode
✅Customisable Plates
✅Solo Race Mode (With Pause & Quick Restart)
✅AI Difficulty Select
✅3 New Cars
✅Clan Stores
‼️& More!

We hope you enjoy this update, and there will be more improvements to come through… pic.twitter.com/xHl5kXc3pT

Two new game modes are coming as well. Navigation mode simply sets an end-point for a time trial with no checkpoints, meaning you’ll be racing the clock and can choose your path to make it to the finish.

New Convoy Missions will also give you the chance to try some of the game’s more expensive and rarer cars as you take on the mission of delivering them to a destination. Three new cars will be added too, namely the Aston Martin Valour, DeLorean DMC-12 and LaFerrari Aperta, as well as licence plate customisation.

Will it be enough to reignite interest in TDU Solar Crown? Let us know how you’re feeling on socials.
