Gran Turismo 7 Update 1.48 Will Bring Five New Cars, Including JGTC Legend

It’s the time of the month again for a new Gran Turismo 7 update, and series creator Kazunori Yamauchi has teased us with a bumper five cars set to arrive this week – up from the usual three.

As has become standard now, Yamauchi-san has posted on X (formerly Twitter) with an animation of silhouettes of each car, opening up a guessing game for the nerds out there. Or, like us, you can just wait for someone to point them out for you.

Seemingly headlining update 1.48 will be a JGTC legend in the form of the Honda NSX. The mid-engine sports car competed in the series from 1996 through to 2004 ahead of the series’ rebranding as Super GT. It’s not clear which version of the GT500 NSX it is, although we’re crossing our fingers for a Castrol Mugen-liveried car.

To the right of the NSX in the teaser appears to be another Honda, with an EG Civic seemingly about to arrive in GT7. There was no Type R for the EG Civic, with the most potent form the SiR-II – which is what we’d expect to be included.

It’s not the only hatchback, either. A rather unexpected addition is seemingly a Volvo V40. As amusing as it would be for a low-spec T2 version of the Swedish compact car, it’s more than likely the T5 with its 2.5-litre five-pot engine. It should sound pretty sweet, at least.

Even stranger, it appears it won’t be the only Volvo included as part of 1.48. Hiding at the back appears to be the silhouette of a 240, and in estate form, no less.

Finally, there’ll be another Nissan Skyline, although none of the R-series GT-R models. Instead, the R31 GTS-R looks to be joining the rather packed roster of Skylines available in GT7.

We can only speculate on any other content update 1.48 will include. A new track would be appreciated, and it’s almost a given more events and at least one ‘extra menu’ will be added. We’ll know for sure by Thursday morning, with the update set to arrive on 30 May following server maintenance that begins at 7am UK time.
