AutoID Will Give Your BMW M2 562bhp

The BMW M2 might have just received an update that’s seen its power bumped from 454 to 474bhp, but there’s still no sign of the inevitable Competition version that’ll likely see that figure taken even further.

Luckily, the aftermarket tuning industry is there for people who can’t wait for a hotter M2 from the factory. A few months ago, we saw German tuner Manhart’s 552bhp take on it, but now British outfit AutoID has taken things even further – 10bhp further, to be precise.

It’s unveiled a boosted, carbon-slathered version of the M2 that it’s calling the TR87, and just 10 will be sold as a complete package, although the individual upgrades will all be available separately. Power from the car’s 3.0-litre twin-turbo straight-six has been taken up to 562bhp. Torque, similarly, is up to 490lb ft, compared to 442 in a standard, automatic M2.

AutoID hasn’t said exactly how it’s achieved these figures. The company does offer a plug-in tuning box that can apparently take the car towards 600bhp, though, so there’s a good chance this was involved. Top speed remains limited to 155mph, but 0-62mph is now quoted as taking 3.2 seconds – a huge drop over the standard car’s four seconds dead.

The most notable visual change is the new carbon aero package, which features a front splitter, adjustable rear wing, rear diffuser, side skirts and redesigned ducts in the bumper. None of this is for show, with the aero kit producing a handy 108kg of downforce at 120mph. Each of the 10 TR87s will also get a height-adjustable suspension kit and a Milltek sports exhaust system, too.

The whole package costs £12,999, and obviously, you’ll need to supply your own M2. For a further £4,450, AutoID will throw in a handling package featuring adjustable springs; new control arms, toe arms and camber plates; reworked suspension geometry and sticky Yokohama AD09 rubber.
